I’ve used Straight Talk for years now. It’s affordable, flexible, and works on almost any phone. But there was one time my mobile data just wouldn’t connect — no internet, no MMS, and I couldn’t figure out why. That’s when I learned that APN settings were the missing piece.
If you’re using Straight Talk and your data or messages aren’t working, chances are your APN (Access Point Name) settings need to be fixed. This guide covers everything I know about setting up Straight Talk APNs the right way.
Straight Talk APN Settings for Different Networks
This is where most people get stuck. Straight Talk uses different networks depending on your SIM card — and each one has a different APN.
How do I know which network I’m using?
Look at the first few digits of your SIM card or contact Straight Talk support. Alternatively, text APN to 611611 — they’ll send the settings.
Straight Talk AT&T-Compatible SIM (GSM-A)
This is what I used on my unlocked phone when it ran on AT&T’s network.
Setting | Value |
Name | Straight Talk |
APN | tfdata |
MMSC | http://mms-tf.net |
MMS Proxy | mms3.tracfone.com |
MMS Port | 80 |
APN Type | default,mms,supl |
Authentication | PAP |
🟢 Tip: This configuration works best for LTE and often supports 5G if your phone is compatible.

Straight Talk T-Mobile-Compatible SIM (GSM-T)
T-Mobile towers are used when the SIM is marked for GSM-T.
Setting | Value |
Name | Straight Talk |
APN | wap.tracfone |
MMSC | http://mms.tracfone.com |
MMS Proxy | 216.155.165.40 |
MMS Port | 8080 |
APN Type | default,mms,supl |
Authentication | Not required (optional) |

🟡 Note: If MMS doesn’t work, try setting APN to tracfone.vzwentp.
Straight Talk Verizon-Compatible SIM (CDMA-V)
This one is tricky — Verizon-based APNs are more restricted.
Setting | Value |
Name | Straight Talk |
APN | TRACFONE.VZWENTP |
MMSC | http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms |
MMS Proxy | Not required |
MMS Port | Not required |
APN Type | default,mms,supl |
Authentication | Not required |

🔴 Warning: Some Verizon-compatible Straight Talk phones won’t allow editing APNs. In that case, a carrier profile update or customer support may be necessary.
How to Enter Straight Talk APN Settings on Your Device
On Android Devices
Here’s how I do it every time I reset a device:
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Access Point Names
- Tap the + icon or Add
- Enter the values from the table above
- Save and select the new APN
- Restart your device
On iOS Devices (iPhone/iPad)
This is a little buried in iOS, but it works the same way:
- Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network
- Enter the APN values in their respective fields
- Leave unused fields blank
- Go back and restart your device

Common APN Problems and Fixes for Straight Talk
If you’ve entered everything correctly and still no luck — here’s what I check:
Issue: No Internet
- Make sure Data Roaming is enabled
- Confirm you saved and selected the right APN
- Restart the phone after setup
Issue: MMS Not Working
- Double-check the MMSC and MMS Proxy
- Use APN Type: default,mms,supl
Issue: Still Nothing?
- Reset Network Settings
- On Android: Try removing all other APNs and using only one
- Contact Straight Talk and ask for a Carrier Reset or profile update
Bonus Tips for Better Straight Talk Performance
✅ Enable LTE/5G mode
Your phone may be stuck on 3G or a fallback band. Force 4G/5G in network settings.
✅ Check band support
Some phones don’t support all U.S. bands. Use tools like willmyphonework.net to check compatibility.
✅ Text “APN” to 611611
Straight Talk will send you the correct APN automatically — this works most of the time.
✅ Use airplane mode trick
Turn airplane mode ON for 10 seconds, then OFF — this refreshes your mobile network.
Conclusion
In my case, fixing my Straight Talk APN settings was all it took to get full internet and MMS working again.
- Always check your SIM’s network type first.
- Use the correct APN table.
- Restart your device after setting it up.
If nothing works, leave a comment with your phone model and SIM type — I’ve troubleshot this for dozens of phones, and I’ll try to help.
